About two-thirds of all
Indians derive their livelihood directly from
agriculture, a proportion that is not much
smaller than it was at the beginning of the 20th
century.
The Jekay group got involved in
agriculture for environmental and social causes
in 2001. Today it has over 600 acres of land
under cultivation near Raipur, Chhattisgarh. It
boasts fully developed infrastructure (power,
roads, irrigation), up to date scientific
methods and a dedicated and professional team of
experts.
Research is carried out to develop hybrid seeds
here. The various crops and their variety can be

Agricultural technology has been undergoing
rapid change in India encouraged and sponsored
to a great extent by the government. For
irrigation we have a well developed deep wells,
tank irrigation (in which water is drawn from
small reservoirs created along the courses of
minor streams) and an extensive drip irrigation
system. This along with the use of organic
fertilizers and pesticides gives us high quality
output all year round. After extracting the
seeds, we also process the produce for the
nutraceutical industry because of the growing
medicinal importance of the vegetables/fruits. |
